Parents and Citizens’ Association (P&C) at Applecross Primary School
The Parents and Citizens’ Association (P&C) at Applecross Primary School, established under the Education Act 1999, offers an excellent way for parents to engage with the school community and contribute to enhancing the educational environment for students, staff, and families.
The P&C’s primary purpose is to actively fundraise, enabling the purchase of additional resources and improvements across the school. This is achieved through the dedicated efforts of an elected P&C Committee, consisting of:
- President
- Vice-President
- Honorary Secretary
- Honorary Treasurer
- At least three (3) general members
As an incorporated association, the P&C Committee supports various school groups, including the Scholastic Book Club. Fundraising events such as dress-up days, Mother’s and Father’s Day stalls, and the Lapathon not only raise valuable funds but also foster community spirit and fun.
Funds raised have supported a wide range of projects, including:
- Major refurbishments to the undercover area and library
- Purchase of new books, shelving, Smart TVs, and classroom Smart boards
- Upgrades to air-conditioning, lighting, security fencing, and IT equipment including iPads
- PA/sound system, faction banners, and shade marquees
- Interschool sports uniforms, teaching resources across numeracy, literacy, languages, and the arts
- Sports carnival ribbons and trophies
- Two naturescape playgrounds
Parents are encouraged to get involved throughout the year. Volunteer opportunities are communicated via classroom representatives, and updates are shared through the P&C Facebook page and the Audiri App. General P&C meetings are held once each term, and all members of the school community are welcome to attend.
